Customer Review: It’s not terrible.
The folding/travel feature is theoretically nice, but the seat is SO STINKING HEAVY that it’s really no easier to carry than our (lighter) Britax we have in the other car. Chest clip and straps are exceptionally easy to use and not at all prone to tangling. Quite easy to install. And we didn’t have the problem the PP mentioned, never had to call customer service fortunately. So it seems like a perfectly OK car seat, but the main reason we bought it was travel and it really doesn’t have a particular advantage in that regard. We’ll probably buy a “CARES” system and check our other carseat in the belly of the plane!
Customer Review: Don’t buy. Not worth the money. Horrible Seat
Seat cover keeps falling off to the left. This caused the styrofoam to chip off. The company (Sunshine Kids) refuses to send another one even though it’s only been 3 months since purchase and I have a receipt. They keep saying it’s amazon’s responsibility. Customer Review: Great All-Around Car Seat
We’ve been using this car seat with our 22 pound nine-month-old for about a week now and we love it. We started with an infant seat and loved the convenience of being able to take our daughter in and out of the car while still in her seat. But the radian 80 comes with awesome removable padding that looks like it would be great for a newborn as well. Our daughter still faces backwards, so we were delighted with the removable “wedge” that comes with the seat, making it recline beautifully without having to use the towels and pool noodle we have to use with our Alpha Omega Elite. Another great feature of this seat is its narrow footprint. You really could put three across in the back seat. And because it has a steel frame, it doesn’t have all that bulky plastic that most car seats have…. so it still has the same comfortable padding that other seats have without being so wide. We don’t travel much, but if you do the seat folds very flat and comes with a shoulder strap for carrying. I am really enjoying this seat, especially since my daughter seems so comfortable in it. It was very easy to install, has just the right amount of bells and whistles, and will support our daughter until she weighs 80 pounds. We purchased this car seat for our second son while he was still very very small. We had bought a Britax Decathlon for our first child because everyone raved about how amazing they were. I wasn’t so impressed.

The Radian 80 is small, but more roomy and seems like it would be more comfortable. I love that it comes with built in carrying handles and a little emergency info packet. One note - this seat is heavy! You can see the solid metal that runs the length of the seat. I dread carrying it through the airport, but it folds compactly, which is something no other seats do!

Our son has fit in this seat from 10 pounds and still as lots of room to go. He has no problem staying rear-facing in it at 14 months and we will continue to leave him that way until he reaches he weight limit. It’s safer that way. Buy Sunshine Kids Radian Car Seat Now!

Customer Review: Great Narrow High Harness Limit Seat!
I love this seat! I purchased it for my 3 year old to replace a Graco CarGo because he’s getting close to the 40 lb harness limit.

This seat was a breeze to install with using LATCH or the seatbelt. I tried it both RF w/the tether and FF. It fits rock-solid in our extended-cab pickup!

Comparing this seat to our Britax Marathon…same harness weight limit; Radian has top slots that are 1/2″ taller; the Radian is much more narrow; this folds and is surprisingly easy to carry with the built in strap.

I can hardly wait to order a second for my other child!
Customer Review: Worth every penny!
I was looking to find a 5 point harness seat that went above and beyond to hold my 3 and 5 year old daughters forward facing. This seat was highly recommended to me.
After searching and comparing this seat with the Britax Regent (needed tether and too wide, not FAA approved), the Costco Apex (too bulky), the Safeguard Child seat (too pricey), I found this one to have all the things I required:
1. Slim design so I could fit 3 child seats across one row in my SUV.
2. Something that offered great cushion and padding.
3. Something FAA approved.
4. Something that could fit outboard or center seat location.

After receiving the boxes (ordered from other internet vendor) I could not wait to rip them open. The seat is totally together for you and the directions are so simple to read. (if you use it rear facing you do need to attach the base)though. It is a heavy seat so I could not imagine lugging it around through the airport comfortably but I guess if you need to travel you will have to do so. I wanted FAA approved just in case we needed it but I basically wanted it for the thin seat design and extended 5 point harness feature.
It was easy to install. What a nice snug fit in both the middle row seat center and outboard positions. The seat is lower so my girls can climb in themselves which they love. One thing I wish it had was attached cupholders but that is really the only complaint I have. I opted to get the ones that attach onto the window next to my older daughter and that works fine.
The champagne color is very lovely and looks great with my camel seats.
The blue is also nice but I could not locate that in my online search.

Customer Review: Great seat! My kiddo is definitely safe in this one!
I love the fact that this seat got such great safety reviews. I did quite a bit of research to find a great, safe seat for my now four year old, yet also wanted a seat that would grow with her and not take up too much space. This seat is perfect. It’s got a soft, suede-like feel to the seat, sits low in the seat, so I’m not lifting too horribly high when I put her in our Tahoe, and it feels VERY sturdy and secure. We haven’t found it to be horribly difficult to install. My daughter finds it comfortable and has yet to complain of any straps or buckles digging in like she did with her Britax she was about to outgrow.
We’ve been very pleased with this seat, and will probably stick with the Sunshine line when our two year old outgrows her seat as well. Great product!
Customer Review: Buy this for your newborn
My 10 month old daughter hated her ‘infant’ car seat from the beginning. Every time I tried to set her in it she would scream and cry~making our car ride frustrating. Once I purchased the Radian car seat, when she turned 9 months, our rides have been cry free. I think it’s because in the Radian her back isn’t curved so much. I was pleasently suprised by this carseat. It is so soft and cozy, and easy to install. I am excited that I will not have to buy another seat for her any time soon. She (8 months old, about 17lbs) seems to enjoy it too, because she sits up higher and is able to see her brothers. We have a 07 dodge van and it is a prefect fit. Customer Review: Great idea, cheap construction, bad design
When I saw this, I thought, FANTASTIC! I travel on planes with my radian carseat, and also am a member of a community carshare, so I have to carry it, and my child/stroller to and from the car each time. I had been using an over the shoulder strap, but the Radian is heavy, and it was very uncomfortable.

This backpack works well, in that it puts the weight on the two shoulders, as it should. However, the straps hook onto the main bag on a D-ring behind your neck, with big plastic hooks. These hooks grate on your neck/back vertebrae. Badly placed. There must be many other comfortable ways to attach the straps to the main body.

The bag only fits the Radian one way, as it is totally fitted to the Radian’s shape. No loose space, no manouvrability. It fits well, but exactly, which is a hassle when dealing with putting it on and taking it off quickly on planes and transferring from car to stroller. Extra space would allow to put some other items into it as well: a blanket, stuffed toy etc. As wearing this precludes carrying another bag on your back, it would be nice to have a wee bit of space, a couple pockets etc. As is, it will ONLY fit your Radian.

I have only used this to transport the Radian to and from the car on foot, and on one trip in the plane, ie to the taxi, from taxi to luggage cart, to plane and off again, and where the D ring is to attach the backpack straps, the fabric has totally pulled away from its backing. It is no longer waterproof there, and not solid. There is no reinforcement of the rather thin material at the point of attachment, and I fear it will give out completely soon. I only owned it for perhaps two months when this happened: perhaps 4 car trips and one round-trip plane ride. I would expect something made for travel to be more solid.

The zipper is also very small and not solid, and has only one slide on it, so you cannot open it from any angle, only from the end and zip it all the way around. As it fits so tightly, you have to tug to make it fit perfectly to close the zipper.

So 5 stars for the idea (what better thing for a portable folding carseat than a backpack?), 3 for the design, and -1 for the materials and construction.
Customer Review: Incredibly great car seat - TERRIBLE CARRYING CASE
I wish Sunshine Kids had put as much thought into their carrying case as they did the Radian Car Seat. It seems someone miscalculated the measurements of the car seat when creating the cover. The cover is made to fit so very snuggly that it takes my husband standing on the folded car seat while we wiggle it into the case…and forget putting the rear-facing base in the case - they simply didn’t expect you take that along. The car seat has traveled with us on about 8 trips (16 flights) and the bag is already pulling apart at the seams. Customer Review: Worst Carseat I’ve ever owned, Sunhine you should be ashamed
We bought two of these for our newborn twins because they were able to sit side by side in our van. The width of these seats made them perfect for our car, everything else was a nightmare. The foam behind the seats in both seats cracked and broke off in chucks. It is a piece of junk. I took the first seat back as soon as the foam cracked. Fortunately we live near where they are made. They did give me a new seat. It cracked in a week. But the worst and most unforgiveable things was the tether that locks the carseat in place. It is extrememly long. We took the seats on an airplane trip and when we got to our destination we put the seats in the car. We did not lock in the tether because there was no place on that particular car for the tether to go. Unfortunately the tether had come loose during the flight and was no longer rolled up in the back of the seat. The tether was so long it actually went from the middle seat and unbeknownst to me was hanging out of the door when we drove off. It then got caught under the wheel of the car smashing the middle baby seat into the other. We spent the morning at the ER with our two babies and one now has a permanent scar on his ankle from this accident. I went into Target to check out the tether lengths on the other seat brands. We realize that this was a crazy accident. But the length of the other tethers is about half that of the Sunshines. It’s not something you think about until the worst happens, but as a car seat manufacturer they ought to consider these things. Why should their tether be so much longer then everyone elses? Also the seats are very heavy. We purchased the travel carrying covers for them (supposedly makes them easier to travel with in airports). Both carrying straps broke withing 20 minutes of trying to lug those heavy carseats around. A piece of junk. Sunshine - you should be ashamed of yourselves.
Customer Review: Perfect car seat for triplets!
Admittedly, I am an information junkie, and found myself researching every possible car seat solution when we came to the time to purchase our “big girl” car seats when the triplets outgrew the “pumpkin” seats. Simply stated, Radian 80 is the industry leader + actually having the product in hand has confirmed that reputation. The seat is very intuitive and designed to simplify use completely. My hubby (the engineer of the family) marvels at how easy the seat is to install and adjust. With fitting three across the back of our Town & Country, we had a moment of held breath, followed by a sigh of relief when all fit in one row comfy and cozy.
