Customer Review: There must be a better carseat out there…
This is my first baby, so not much to compare it to…but there are a few annoyances with this carseat. 1. the straps are constantly getting twisted. 2. The handle release buttons are very tight and hard to move back easily to get baby out. 3. the handle doesn’t lend itself well to attaching/dangling toys. 4. Wish the canopy was slightly larger to cover baby more efficiently when it’s raining or for filtering out sunlight. 5. the adjustibility of the straps is not as easy as it should be.
On a more positive note…I like that it’s lightweight, easy to carry, easy to snap onto it’s base and install base into car, easy to snap onto the snap n go stroller that BabyTrend makes. The upholstery is nice looking and wipes off easily. Many people have remarked they think it looks like a Chicco carseat.
But I can’t help but wonder if there might be a better carseat out there.
Customer Review: why are the straps so short?
While this may be a good seat in terms of safety, if your infant is of decent size you will be springing for a new seat very soon. The straps are way too short. Granted, our 2-month old daughter is on the bigger side for her age (12 lbs). Even still, if she is wearing a heavier winter outfit, with the straps on the loosest setting, she barely fits into the seat. I give it another month before we have to get a bigger seat. My friend gave me her Primo Viaggio car seat. So I bought another base for my husband’s car (Toyota 4Runner). We didn’t have any problems with the 4Runner. I have a VW Passat with leather seats–the kind of hard leather that is really slippery. When I installed it, the seat seemed very loose. Luckily for me, my husband is pretty strong and really got in there and tightened the seat belts. I bought two car seat mats (Super-Mat and Grip-It by Sunshine Kids) to go underneath and the infant seats are now very, very snug. I defy anyone to try to move them now. If you’re having problems, then your best solution is to seek out the experts: your local fire department.

The only downside with the Primo Viaggio is the cost and weight. But it was free for me so I can’t really complain.

We purchased the Primo Viaggio car seat for our first daughter and loved it. The fact that the carrier pops in and out allows you to remove your baby from the car while they are still sleeping, which is helpful! However, this is not an inexpensive car seat. So, when we became pregnant with our second child and realized we would need an infant seat in two cars, we were hesitant to purchase another of these for the second vehicle. We were delighted to find out we could buy the base separately, and just snap the infant carrier into whichever car we would be using that day! I actually bought this toy for my baby. It doesn’t work in my back seat because it needs to attach to a head rest, but you can also use one of the straps to stick to the seat but it dosen’t hold it up. The mirror faces somewhere on the ceiling. now that my baby is a little older she can reach the toys with her feet but the purple bar falls off. I think it might be good to hang in her crib, but so not effective as a car toy.

These shades are great. Granted, they will work loose IF not suctioned onto a clean window and they are not opened properly. I made sure the shade isn’t pulled tight but is opened to where I want to cover the window THEN apply. The push-button retraction is nice because you don’t have to roll them up manually. Whenever the “hot” button appears I just make sure to allow air flow throughout my car and get the A/C on pronto! Overall, an attractive window shade and not too expensive.
