Customer Review: Poorly designed, heavy, clumsy and not worth the money
Having searched far and wide for a US made car seat for our first-born, we settled on the Britax Companion along with the Britax Vigour stroller.

To say the least, we were deeply disappointing when we received the products. Both the stroller and car-seat are short on quality, clumsy and poorly designed. It is not worth the price being charged. As for safety, I hope we never have to find out.

The product quality which one would expect from a child product is not there. It is heavy and if you are not well-built, it is going to be difficult to carry around. Neither does it operate smoothly and efficiently.

If Britax is supposedly better than the other child product companies, I wonder about the quality of the products from other companies.

Anyway, this would be the last Britax product we are ever going to purchase.

I am grateful to say I don’t know how it would hold up in a car cash. Our son is 4 months old and loves this car seat, seems very comfortable. It is ok to pack around, probably no different then any other one, maybe a little heavier, but thats what makes it so safe. We bought 2 bases so we would have one in each vehichle, works well. Customer Review: Buckle can bruise inner thigh
I bought a couple of these seats for our twins based on the other reviews. I am very dissappointed with the seats because the buckle is so large it causes bruising on their inner thighs even with use of the belly pad and with the extra back support removed. I called Britax and unlike some of their other models the Diplomat does not come with any adjustments for the buckle strap length. They also admitted having heard of the issue before but have done nothing to address it. Britax’s website says that the lap section of the harness should fit above the thighs but there is no way this is possible because the buckle strap is too short and when the shoulder straps are snapped in the buckle is huge and has hard plastic pressing into your baby at mid-thigh.
Customer Review: Nothing like it at a big box store
We have four kids and this is our 5th car seat. We didn’t skimp on the last seats and they served well, but this one blows the others out of the water. You can’t find anything like it at your local big box store. The fit and finish is top, and it’s super solid. All the adjustments work easily and properly, and it’s super easy to PROPERLY install.

Our youngest howled non-stop in the $150 convertible we got at a big box. We decided to get this one as it is more versatile and top-rated for safety. He loves it. It cradles him deeply from all sides and certainly appears to provide nearly 360 degree protection. The size is just right, not too big, but plenty roomy for toddler + winter clothes. We have it in a three-seat row of our minivan, and it’s narrow enough to comfortably fit without intruding on the neighboring passenger. I wish we would have gotten this brand for the older kids. Learn from our experience and start off right with this seat. Don’t bother shopping at Wally or another big box, just get this seat and have a happy, safe kid.

I subtract one star for the airing-out this seat needed when it was new. It had a “new seat smell” that bothered me, although my wife said she couldn’t smell it. A day in the sun and it was fine. Buy Britax Onyx Car Seat

Customer Review: Great purchase, high quality car seat!
After hours of online research, we decided to go with the Britax Boulevard once my daughter outgrew her Graco Snugride (which we also liked). This seat is exceptionally large, so I do not see it fitting in a sports car. I was impressed with the true side impact protection wings, which is what eventually persuaded me to buy this, especially for when we move her from the middle position when another baby comes along. She does have to lean forward to look out the side windows, but has a great view out of the back. They also make a comfy pillow when sleeping. The fabric is very soft and I like the neutral colors. The headrest/strap height adjustment is very easy. I love the tether, it is the only brand to offer a rear-facing tether, you just have to spend a little extra time figuring it out. (I took it to a local specialist in installing car seats.) All of these things make it probably the safest on the market. It is rear-facing to 35 pounds, and forward-facing to 65, so we should get a lot of mileage out of it!

Complaints: The buckle leans towards the back of the seat and you do have to fish it out from under them each time they get in. I find the harness adjuster strap quite difficult to tighten. You cannot tighten it in one smooth motion as you can with the snugride. You have to jerk it out in several repeated motions. Besides this I am very happy with it. We bought it on sale and with a $200 gift card, otherwise I would have been hard-pressed to spend this much on it.
Customer Review: Love this carseat!
We’ve been using this carseat for months now, and we love it. Most importantly, my son loves it. It is very comfortable, and we feel that he is very secure inside. It’s not the easiest to install, but the comfort and stability of the seat more than make up for that. I’ve washed the cover and it did really well in the washer. It wasn’t hard to put the cover back on, either. Lots of nooks and crannies for stray cheerios, but that can’t be helped. Would buy another in a heartbeat, and highly recommended to anyone. Customer Review: Comfortable and safe
This car seat has a lot of padding and my baby seems very comfortable in it. Overall the material and construction of this seat is very good. I have been using it for ~5 months. I feel safe to put my baby in it.

One thing I really like is that this seat can hold a toddler up to 65lbs. So I probably don’t need to buy a booster seat in the future.

When I first install this car seat, I spent over half an hour but couldn’t find the latches. I thought it was missing and was about to return it, then I found it under the seat cover. You have to read instruction very carefully to find out where it is. If you cannot the latches either, look at their video instructions online.

I like this car seat and I’ll give it 5 stars. However, there are a few you may want to know:
- there seems to be a lot of color selections but they don’t look attractive at all, at least to me.
- when I installed this seat facing backward to my SUV, it totally blocked the view of the rear-right windows (I installed it to the back seat on the right). I felt very uncomfortable when cutting lanes. I had to move the front passenger seat all the way to the front so that I can still see part of that window. Of course I couldn’t use the front passenger seat in the last few months.

This is an awesome car seat. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is b/c the cover isn’t completely suitable for hot weather. It’s sort of like fleece, which makes it really hot in the summer for the baby who still has to face back. Customer Review: Love it!
We love this car seat! It fits in our 2004 GMC Envoy XL with no problem. It’s in the middle (which does prevent us from folding the seats down), but we can still move the front seats all the way back and recline them. We started using the seat for my daughter when she was 9 months old as she was starting to get cramped in the carrier. She has more room and is much happier in the Roundabout.

My only complaint is that it is a little tough to get it installed nice and sturdy. It usually takes a second (or third) attempt and a second set of hands is helpful. The base of our seat isn’t flat and neither is the base of the car seat, so you have to get it situated just right. But once you do, it’s great! And I love the floor anchor which makes me feel like it’s extra stable.

We have had no problems with this car seat. Our son loves to be forward facing to watch all thats going on outside of the car. It is very comfortable for him, especially now that he is out of his infant seat. I can’t think of anything bad to say. It was easy to install, though I’m a little confused on “tethering” it. We haven’t done that, as it was optional and not explained fully. All in all, great purchase. Easy in and out, as the straps velcro to the sides of the seat so they stay open while you’re putting the child in. Great thinking! We love it! Buy Britax Onyx Car Seat
